“[God’s perfect law] requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “No sin goes unpunished – it can’t. God’s law demands a penalty. Without a penalty, His perfect law ceases to be perfect. Christ didn’t erase or ameliorate the penalties of our sin. He paid them in full.” (John MacArthur). Jesus did not say, “For God so loved that world that He overlooks their sins.” No, violation of a perfect law requires a perfect remedy. That is why there cannot be many paths to righteousness. Because Christ is the only perfect remedy. The only one, the only way to pay for mankind’s sins in full.
My Advice – Don’t go looking for a remedy elsewhere, or a loophole in what God requires. They do not exist. Jesus said that He is the only way, because He is. God’s word says that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NIV 1984). No one else died for our sins. No one else could have paid in full.
