In the past, he let all nations go their own way. Yet he has not left himself without testimony. (Acts 14:16–17, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “History repeats itself. That’s one of the things wrong with history.” (Clarence Darrow). “All nations go their own way.” Well, it’s happening again. Big time. And the problem with nations is that they are made of people. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12, NIV 1984). Started in the Garden, “the serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:13, NIV 1984) and continues to when history is ending, “they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:4, NIV 1984).
That’s what’s really wrong with history. But there is something else that keeps repeating itself. “He has not left Himself without testimony.” Elijah thought he was the only one left. But God told him, “I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him.” (1 Kings 19:18, NIV 1984). It may begin to seem like the witness is being snuffed out today and that we are all alone. We are not. For “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “To all nations.” Before the end. Be among those that God has “reserved.” Be part of His Kingdom that is bringing the Gospel to all nations.
Excellent post, Steve! Thank you! This really spoke to me today. Blessings, Brother!
