How can [anyone] keep [their] way pure? By living according to Your word. [To] seek You with all [their] heart; do not let [us] stray from Your commands. [We] have hidden Your word in[our] heart that [we] might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:9–11, NIV 1984).
My Musings – The heart is central to “living according to [His] Word” to “not [sinning] against [Him].” Yet pointless unless Christ unless “the Spirit of God lives in [us because] if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, [they do] not belong to Christ. (Romans 8:9, NIV 1984).
My Advice – Although this (“the Spirit of God” living in us) has been granted to those who “belong to Christ,” it is not something to be taken for granted.
“Do not merely listen to the Word and so deceive yourselves. Do [live according] what it says. Anyone who listens to the Word but does not do what it says is like [one] who looks at [their] face in a mirror and, after looking at [themself], goes away and immediately forgets what [they] look like. But the [one] who looks intently into [hides it in his heart] the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what [they have] heard, but doing it—[they] will be blessed in what [they do] [keep their way pure].” (James 1:22–25, NIV 1984).
