We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For He says, “In the time of My favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 5:20–6:2, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “You can destroy your now by worrying about tomorrow.” (Janis Joplin). She is certainly not numbered among the great theologians. Great singers, yes. We cannot know for sure this side of Heaven, but perhaps she should have worried more about her eternal future and less about destroying her now, which was tragically cut short by a heroin overdose.
My Advice – “He [Governor Felix] sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, ‘That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.'” (Acts 24:24–25, NIV 1984).
You can destroy your eternal future, by conveniently delaying worrying about it until tomorrow. “Now is the time.”
