His Word, His Mouth, His Desire, His Purpose

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10–11, NIV 1984).

My Musings – It must be His Word, which comes from His mouth, that is sent to accomplish His desire and achieve His purpose. The Word sometimes comes from the mouth of Satan, who desires to frustrate God’s desires and purposes.

“The devil took [Jesus] to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw Yourself down. For it is written: He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ Jesus answered him, ‘It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'” (Matthew 4:5–7, NIV 1984).

My Advice – So be careful who you listen to and how they are using the Word.

“Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they…examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (Acts 17:10–11, NIV 1984).

Alos, be careful how you use the Word.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one…who correctly handles the Word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:14–15, NIV 1984).

Make sure all the “boxes” are checked: His Word, His mouth, His desire, His purpose.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
