A Prescription for Foolishness

He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe. (Proverbs 28:26, NIV 1984).

My Musings – To trust on oneself, is to “lean on our own understanding.” To walk in wisdom is to “trust in the Lord with all [our} heart…[and] in all [our] ways acknowledge Him.” By doing the latter we will be kept safe, that is “He will make [our} paths straight.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV 1984).

My Advice – “Do not be wise in your own eyes.” (Proverbs 3:7, NIV 1984). It is a prescription for foolishness.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
