My Musings – We live in a day and age where God’s Word no longer seems to be “carved in stone.”  People seem to prefer the “soft-cover” edition that allows them to do as they please, where the truth is relative to the particular situation, and adjusting God’s Word to fit their lifestyle is easier than adjusting their lifestyle to fit God’s Word.  But do they really prefer this, or are they really looking for something more satisfying, but that seems to always elude them?

There are two kinds of people who live their lives to “suit their own desires.” Those who have never been “born again,” and those have been but have not “continue[d] in what [they] have learned.”

Suiting Their Own Desires – For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4, NIV 1984).

Continue In What You Learned – But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:14-17, NIV 1984).

If you have never been born again, you may be finding that doing what suits your desires offers only temporary joy and satisfaction, but no lasting peace.  Maybe you desire something more out of life?  Maybe, deep down, you long for a relationship with your Creator – you long to be “wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ?”  If so, you might find what you are looking for by reading my my musings called “The Born Again Experience.”  The musings are not a magic formula, they are a roadmap to that deep down longing for a relationship with Christ.

If you have been born again, but have wandered from the faith, you may be finding yourself longing for the fellowship with Christ that you once had, but now seems so far away.  Maybe you desire to return to what you once became convinced of but are no longer continuing in? Maybe you are looking for the path back?  If so, you might find what you are looking for by reading my musings called “Got Spiritual Milk?” a twelve step guide to discipleship. These musings are not a magic formula either, they are a guided-tour to a closer fellowship with Christ.

Maybe you are neither of these.  Maybe you have had the “close encounter of the third kind.”  You have been born again and you are continuing in what you have learned. If so, I hope you find the other musings in this site helpful in your continuing pursuit of becoming “thoroughly equipped.”

To all three “kinds,” I am eager to hear from you.  Feel free to comment as you read my musings.  God’s blessings to you all!

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
