With Honor

Mom & Dad On Bike

“Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”  (Ephesians 6:2–3, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Today would have been my parents’ (that’s them in the picture above during their courtin’ days) 70th wedding anniversary.  Dad went to be with the Lord in 2016, mom is still with us.  They were primarily responsible for my Christian upbringing and love of the Lord.  I never grow weary of honoring them.

My Advice – Parents.  Honor them while they are still here.  Honor their memory when they no longer are.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
