The testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:3β4, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Tests are administered in schools to determine how well we’ve learned what we have been taught. The same is true with spiritual instruction. God will allow, even bring, testing into our lives to demonstrate how much we have learned as well as to develop perseverance. Of course, He already knows, but it is important for us to know as well. It will point out areas where we still need additional instruction, growth and maturity. As we advance in these areas, the “curriculum” gets increasingly more difficult and we will advance (and be tested) even more. The testing is not intended to discourage us, but rather to stimulate us to “attaining the full measure” of Christ.
My Advice – Going through a period of testing? Be encouraged as God demonstrates just how much you have grown in the faith.

Now THIS is a good reminder! And like one of my kids used to say, “Thanks Daddy, I needed that!” Blessings!
