What I Have

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.” (Acts 3:6, NIV 1984).

My Musings – What do you have to give? If you have been called into His Kingdom, you have plenty.

It may very well be “silver or gold.” If so, give in accordance with the measure that God has blessed. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” (Malachi 3:10, NIV 1984).

It may seem like you barely have even a “cup of cold water” to offer. No matter. “If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.” (Matthew 10:42, NIV 1984).

But we have something much more valuable to share. “We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Corinthians 4:7, NIV 1984). And what is this treasure of all-surpassing power? “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16, NIV 1984).

My Advice – What have you to give? At the very least (or is that the very most?), the Gospel. Whatever it is, give as you are called. “I [Jesus] tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40, NIV 1984).
