We do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:2–4, NIV 1984).

My Musings – When did “setting forth the truth plainly” stop being enough? Deception and distortion are tools of the god of this age. And when you get right down to it, merely synonyms for lies. Yes, we must speak the truth in love, but there is nothing loving about using distortion or deception to make the Gospel seem more palatable. Nor is it…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
