Remember When?

This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.” (Zechariah 7:8–10, NIV 1984).

My Musings – In an unfallen world, these are things that would go without saying. They would not be second nature they would be first nature. But in a fallen world, not only are they frequently lacking, sometimes concepts like justice need a qualifier like “true.”

We would expect these things in the fallen world at large. But more and more we are seeing them in many Christians. This should not be.

My Advice“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.” (Revelation 2:4, NIV 1984). Don’t have a short memory.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
