“Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son.  I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.”  (John 17:1, 4, NIV 1984).

My Musings“I have brought…by completing…”  He had not yet sweat drops of blood in anguished prayer asking if possible that He be spared the cross.  He had not yet been betrayed by a friend’s kiss or arrested.  The beating, whipping, and piercing had not yet taken place.  He had yet to proclaim “it is finished!”  Yet He spoke of it as if it had already taken place.  “I have brought…by completing…”  He not only knew that death was certain, but that the resurrection was also certain.  “I have brought…by completing…”

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
