“You stretched out your right hand and the earth swallowed them. In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.” (Exodus 15:12–13, NIV 1984).
My Musings – The above text is from “The Song of Moses and Miriam,” following the Red Sea crossing and the destruction of the Egyptian army that was in pursuit of the Israelites. The first verse is in the past tense, linking this just completed deliverance with the second verse in the future tense of leading and guiding.
In your unfailing love you will lead – This is not an emotion. It is His Nature. “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8, NIV 1984). The text does not say God loves. It says that God is Love.
In your strength you will guide – God is sovereign. He is all-powerful and able to do anything that He wills to do and that is consistent with His nature. No one can stand against Him. “From ancient days I am He. No one can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?” (Isaiah 43:13, NIV 1984). It is not just relative power. It is absolute power. It is not possible for another to be more powerful.
My Advice – Are you one whom He has redeemed? Then these promises were not just for them, they are for you too. If you have not been redeemed, but being led “to His holy dwelling” appeals to you, then read my “The Born Again Experience” musings to learn how you can be one of the redeemed.
