A Nation Such As This

The Brew Is A Musing

“Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all). But my people have exchanged their Glory for worthless idols. Be appalled at this, O heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares the LORD. Should I not punish them for this?” declares the LORD. “Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?  (Jeremiah 2:11–12, 5:9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Was it all that long ago that we self-identified as a Christian nation?  How was it that we exchanged our God for so many other competing gods?

My Advice – We should be appalled at how we’ve fallen and shudder at the prospect of His punishment that is sure to come.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
