On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him…a day known to the Lord. When evening comes, there will be light. The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name. (Zechariah 14:4-5, 7, 9, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “So when [the disciples] met together, they asked [Jesus], ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.'” (Acts 1:6–7, NIV 1984). There will be signs that precede that time, but the date and time is sealed. We must decide what we do with the time that is allotted for us before “that day.”
” After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. Suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’ Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives.” (Acts 1:9a, 10–12, NIV 1984). He will return to the same spot (the Mount of Olives) that He left us. In dramatic fashion. “For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:26–27, NIV 1984). The time for deciding will have passed. Anything we think we have done to earn our salvation we will find is “too little.” To put our trust in what He has done will be “too late.”
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.'” (Revelation 21:1–3, NIV 1984). And He “will be king over the whole earth. “
My Advice – “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. So, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Matthew 24:42, 44, NIV 1984). Keep watch, but be ready for that day.
