The Brew Is A Musing

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. (Ephesians 4:1, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “Prisoner for the Lord.” What an unusual thought. But read closer. Not “of” the Lord, as in involuntary restraint or confinement, but “for” the Lord as one voluntarily held in the grip of (captive to) a strong emotion or passion. Captive, having the same root as captivated — filled with wonder and delight.

My Advice – If this is truly the case, it should take little urging to at least make a sincere effort to “live a life worthy of the calling [we] have received.” Putting “off [our] old self…corrupted by its deceitful desires; [and] made new in the attitude of [our] minds…[putting] on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22–24, NIV…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives.
